About Trail Finder

Our Mission

At Trail Finder, we believe that spending time outdoors is essential for physical health, mental well-being, and personal growth. In today's fast-paced digital world, connecting with nature has become more important than ever. Whether you're seeking the therapeutic solitude of a forest trail, the exhilarating challenge of a mountain summit, or simply a peaceful walk by a waterfall, the outdoors offers countless opportunities for adventure, reflection, and rejuvenation. Our mission is to make discovering these experiences accessible to everyone, from seasoned hikers to families looking for their first trail adventure. We're passionate about helping people step away from their screens, breathe fresh air, and create lasting memories on the trails. Trail Finder exists to inspire and empower outdoor enthusiasts to explore the natural beauty around them, one hike at a time.

About Us

Trail Finder was created by Josh Derrow and Mitch Kehoe as a class project for CS343. We both enjoy hiking and exploring trails around Virginia, and we thought it would be cool to build a website that helps people find new places to hike. We wanted to make something that was easy to use and actually helpful for finding trails based on what you're looking for - whether that's an easy walk or a challenging climb. This project gave us a chance to practice web development skills while working on something we're genuinely interested in.
